Good morning all!
There were limited PRINTED shelter maps distributed in each community clubhouse. We do not have any more printed copies at this time. Please use the digital/electronic copy attached. Julie/receptionist at ADMIN can print a copy if necessary.
We hope you are busy preparing your homes and stocking supplies for hurricane season. We'd like to help you check off some more boxes on your lists! Below is some information about preparedness, shelters, sandbags, and volunteering.
Hurricane Season Preparedness
https://www.polk-county.net/public-safety/hurricane-preparedness/
This page gives information about how to receive up to date alerts, how to register for special needs or pet shelters, preparing your home and yard, stocking your emergency kit, ways to ensure water is safe for drinking, a seven-day hurricane supply suggestion list, hurricane preparedness for small businesses, and more!
Shelters
https://www.polk-county.net/public-safety/emergency-management/find-a-shelter/
This page has a list of potential public shelters that might activate. Do NOT proceed to a shelter until you have confirmed it is open and operating.http://polk-county.net/public-safety/emergency-management/special-needs/
This page is where you will register for special needs shelters. It includes eligibility requirements as well. It is important to fill this out BEFORE hurricane season even if you do not end up staying in one.
Sandbags
A list of sandbag locations will be available on the county's website, social media pages, and we will send it to you when we receive it.
Volunteering
After a hurricane, disaster relief organizations will be in the area to help with various disaster-related needs. As those organizations connect with us, we as Emergency Support Function 15: Volunteers and Donations of Polk County will send out email messaging to those who sign up to receive notification. These messages will include the organization's name, open volunteer assignment information, and how to connect to that opportunity. Registration does not obligate you to report to those assignments.
If you're interested in receiving information on opportunities to help after a disaster, register here: https://www.volgistics.com/appform/774342003. This registration is only for Hurricane Season 2025 (June 1 to November 30, 2025). We update our list annually and you may opt out at anytime. If there are any questions or you need to opt-out after registering, please email volunteerpolk@polk-county.net for the fastest response.
Do not reply to this email. Please send questions regarding this communication to Samantha Jewell at sjewell.pmdeercreek@artemislifestyles.com
